What is hemp oil?

Hemp oil, also called hemp seed oil, is a fatty oil obtained from the seeds of the hemp plant (Cannabis sativa). Our hemp seed oil is made from organic hemp whole seeds. These seeds are rich in omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids and contain important vitamins and minerals.

We extract the oil by a cold-pressing method to preserve all the nutritional values. That makes it a very healthy oil. People who pay attention to their ecological footprint can use hemp oil as a great alternative to coconut or avocado oil.

Hemp oil and its ingredients

Let’s talk about the healthy ingredients of hemp oil.

Hemp oil is so healthy because of its high content of polyunsaturated fatty acids omega-6, such as linoleic acid and gamma-linolenic acid, and omega-3, such as alpha-linolenic acid. Plus, the ratio of omega-6 to omega-3 fatty acids is around 3:1, which is considered very good for human health. These fatty acids are important for the heart health as well as the energy and oxygen balance.

While omega-6 fatty acids can be ingested with numerous vegetable oils, omega-3 is a so-called marine fatty acid. Omega-3 is predominantly found in fatty cold-water fish such as salmon or tuna. For people who don’t eat fish, hemp oil is, therefore, an excellent alternative.

Hemp oil also offers a lot of vitamins, minerals, and trace elements. It contains vitamin E, B1, B2, various minerals such as phosphorus, potassium, magnesium, calcium, sodium and trace elements such as iron, manganese, zinc and small amounts of copper.

Usage of hemp seed oil and its benefits

Due to its valuable ingredients, hemp seed oil can be used both internally and externally. It’s not only an edible oil to use in the kitchen but also a health booster and great care product.

In the kitchen

Hemp oil and its ingredients are great for the organism and your nutritional balance. It’s a great addition to your diet and can be used for various dishes.

The oil has a fine, nutty flavour. Depending on the harvest, it can differ slightly. The darker the oil appears, the more intense and nuttier the taste.

Like most cold-pressed oils, it shouldn’t be heated too high and is therefore particularly suitable for cold dishes such as salad dressings or dips. You can drizzle it over cooked vegetables to give them more taste.

People who follow a healthy diet or avoid meat want to make sure that they supply their body with all the necessary nutrients. Omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids play an important role in this. If fatty sea fish is not an option, hemp oil can be a great alternative to cover the requirements.

What is the difference between CBD oil and hemp oil?

Hemp oil is often equated with CBD oil. However, they are two different products, which lie in the production method.

Hemp oil is made by cold pressing the seeds of the plant into oil. Unlike CBD oil, it has little to no CBD content and therefore no intoxicating effect.
CBD oil or cannabidiol oil is made by extracting CBD from the leaves and flowers of the female, green hemp plant.
